J.J. Hummon was born in Geneva, Switzerland; the son of American born parents. He lived overseas until age 15, residing in Australia, Turkey, England, and Spain. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French, and speaks some Turkish.
He earned a B.A. in International Business and Spanish from Hillsdale College (Michigan) during which he spent a year abroad completing an intensive international business and Spanish immersion program in Spain. While abroad, he undertook a 4-month internship with a Spanish Export company, CUBRI S.A. It was because of this experience that Mr. Hummon recognized the importance of international education and the value of an international internship experience. He continued his Post Graduate education on his MBA at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
In 1994, J.J. began working in the field of international education as the Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment for The Center for Cross-Cultural Study, Inc. based in Amherst, Massachusetts. In 2001, he launched his own company, (www.StudyinBritain.com) an online directory of study abroad opportunities in Britain that was sold to private investors in 2007.
In 2004, J.J. launched InternshipsinBritain.com capitalizing on the popularity of the existing StudyinBritain.com website. The company was renamed in 2005 to International Internships LLC as internship placements expanded beyond the British Isles. The company now arranges for tailored, pre-professional work placements in 16 countries. The company's clients are primarily U.S. university students or recent graduates seeking to enhance their resumes as they enter the global job market. In 2010, the company entered into the J-1 Visa, USA Visitor Exchange program offering internships and Traineeships in the United States for international students - mainly in New York City and Washington, D.C. Our company has an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau.J.J. is a member of NAFSA, the National Association of International Educators. He is very involved in Rotary International, a leadership organization with 35,000 clubs around the globe dedicated to philanthropic and service activities locally and worldwide. He a past Assistant District Governor, past Club President and currently the Rotary Foundation Chair. He also serves his local Rotary District 6960 as the Polio Plus Chair. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Englewood (Englewood, FL) and serves on their board of directors. Additionally, he serves on the board of the Englewood Youth Foundation and is former Big Brother in the Big Brothers-Big Sisters organization.
